Hydroponics

In addition to our fields, our plants are also grown in greenhouses so that we can provide the widest selection of herbs year round. It is here that we use a "soil-less," environmentally friendly method of growing known as hydroponics. Hydroponic gardening increases yields, conserves water, reduces pest problems, and provides precise control over plant nutrition.

With this system, food and water are applied directly to the roots of the plant, eliminating the need for the root system to expand. Not only can we grow more plants this way, the plants grow faster as they don't have to expend energy looking for food. Water is recirculated so we don't have to use nearly as much as we would with traditional growing methods. And, we can ensure perfect growing conditions by quickly making adjustments to the plant nutrient solution and greenhouse temperature. It's just another way we "baby" our herbs.
